1100S bar risers?
Can anyone give me a link to where I can get handlebar risers for my recently aquired 1998 1100S ?
I use the bike as a daily commute and would like to be raised slightly on the bars.
I notice on some other 1100s that it is possible to fit the bars above the yoke with risers, is this still available?
thanks
Dave

You can fit the std bars above the top yoke by loosening the clamps and pulling the stanchions through . You can do this and also fit bar risers like this

Could you explain in more detail how this is done please?nab 301 wrote:You can fit the std bars above the top yoke by loosening the clamps and pulling the stanchions through . You can do this and also fit bar risers like this

Would I need to remove the top yoke to get the bars off?
Thanks
Dave
No need to remove the top yoke , loosen the handlebar clamp and the fork clamp, (Edit remove the wire circlip on top) , push the fork tube down , slide the handle bar (clip on) up off the fork tube, pull the fork tube the required distance back through the top clamp . Refit the bars. Retorque any clamps you loosened.
2 pairs of hands and a centrestand can be useful here. When the fork tube is out of the top yoke the front wheel tends to flop around...
There's fitting instructions on the rapid dog link. You may need longer brake hoses.

I've got some barbacks somewhere. If you're not in a hurry I'll have a look. Don't hold your breath though it might be a week or so. They'll be significantly less than a new set. You'll have to raise the tubes through the top triple tree anyway so there's something to keep you busy in the meantime.

Thanks for the offer f90x, but I am hoping that clamping the bars above the yoke will suffice just enough to allow my short arms a shorter stretch.f90x wrote:I've got some barbacks somewhere. Sorry to hijack the post, and the offerf90x wrote:I've got some barbacks somewhere. If you're not in a hurry I'll have a look. Don't hold your breath though it might be a week or so. I hope to just fit the bars above the yoke, but I have steel braided hoses fitted and will need a longer hose for the front brake. Where could I source it from?
Thanks again.
I am in the process of tidying up the 1100S, having fitted all new pads (old ones were about 50% worn), new handle grips and new rear indicators (still having problems with the fast flashers though).

You may not need new hoses as the after market kits I have had in the past have been a bit longer than standard, but if you do I got mine from bikesnbits in Ireland and they are Hel lines, just ring them and tell them what length you want, I went for twin lines from bars to calipers and they came with all the banjo bolts and seals.
