Snow .... no

Post by slparry »

Woke this morning to find white shite all over the place (the joys of living at altitude).

Living in Gwynfryn (Welsh for "White Hill") means it lives up to its name, and the neighbouring village of Blwchgwyn proudly proclaims it's Wales' highest village.

Just for reference this is the Bala road that many have used on the Welsh Weekends

Bit stunned it's come so early this year, it doesn't bode well for the winter months to come

Blimey!

'Course that means we can expect wall to wall rain on the Costa del Weymouth. If it snows proper down here then the rest of the country will be well and truly f*cked.

Al I'm impressed Devon got that sort of snow!

Phil, we'll try and save some so you can be a rufty tufty biker again :)

Mike, it was heavy rain (and hail at lower altitudes)

I'm just a bit twitchy cos the weather guys have said it may be the worst winter since 1947 when from what my Mum told me there were 6 foot trenches cut for them to get to school etc ... I think I best stock up a bit as living up here it's easy to get cut off

A couple of years ago, we had this in Caerphilly.

But my 'snow socks' got me out and about.

Never seen those. Looks a clever piece of kit, how do they attach to the wheels?

Last winter, which was rough :) it did sterling service with Mich Anakee II's on, I've recently fitted much more off road orientated Conti TKC80 Twinduro's which feel odd on road until your adjust because they're so knobbly but I'm hoping they're going to be much better as snow tyres .... and as I said the Anakees were good.

I find the soft power delivery, and the way singles put their power down makes them nice for winter use. The only negative is idiots, generally, in soft roaders who insist on sitting a foot off your rear in the belief that their 4 wheel drive system will allow them to stop instantly if I come off in front of them.

As odd as it sounds a mate of mine made a suggestion as to his technique for getting them to back off, I was dubious when he told me, but tried it and it works. When they crowd me in snowy conditions simply stand up on the pegs for a minute or so, it appears to confuse the hell out of them and they back off :)
