Me personally, I considered it long and hard yesterday for 404 rain and windswept miles from Pompy to Jed I was pishing wet through after about the 6th lorry I passed on the a27. In fact we both considered it leaving the ferry after having 2 fantastic weeks riding the length and breadth of Spain.

For starters there are lots of myths about mcycling, lets dispel one for starters , it aint sexy no matter how you think you will look in Dainese new offerings cos you won`t look like one of their models. Chances are you will look a bloody pillock and not half as cool as the dude in the open top convertible with a smug smile on his fizzogg.

Secondly it is a bloody faff kitting up and then de kitting for a premature call of nature, with cold hands you spend 5 mins fiddling for the damn thing and then lose it again just as you have pulled the trigger. Thank god for tenna for men.

Thirdly, bloody rear tyres are crap they ware in the middle and there is loads of life left in the outer regions. Rip Off. I think I am through with it, the new bike will only be different from your old one but will still present you with problems. Roads generally are shxte, full of pot holes, diesel and absolute cocks of car and van drivers. The courts and the law treat mcyclists with utter contempt. Even Cyclist lobby groups seem to have more clout than ours.

Oh yes I think regular about packing it in and the ironic thing is that it ain`t the fatalities or the seriously injured that put me off its everything related to it.

On saying that I still enjoy a good ride, occasional re visits to laddism and mostly motor cycle maintenance, priceless.

I didn't take up motorcycling to impress other people and to look cool.
That one paragraph suggests to me that you don't really understand what riding bikes is really all about.

Read the paragraph again in context. It suggest he understands exactly what motorcycling is about and it is not about looking cool.....

....that said, I look as cool as Fonzi in my battered leathers. The image all goes wrong when I take my crash helmet off.

You asked a question, Boxerscott answered. He stated that riding a bike can be cold, wet, inconvenient and some might think you look a pratt done up like a power ranger, hence not a cool as some might imagine. Nothing controversial there?

I think Boxerscott was talking generically. A lot of people take up biking for the wrong reasons, and thinking its cool or glamorous is one of those reasons. People give up when they find out that most of the time its neither.

His point seemed clear to me.

Personally I don't think anyone here took up biking for those reasons, and the suggestion that they did is quite insulting,

An interesting quote "what riding bikes is really all about" could take some explaining along with "what is a biker".
Two expressions often used with so many different reasons/explanations it could be debated until the Holstein-Friesian,s come home.

All I wanted to know was if anyone here has ever thought of packing it in,
