Laser Pipes. BAffles

Hi does anyone have a set of Lasers with the removable baffles please? Think I'm going to get a set made up, just to avoid plods' attention a little. If anyone does have them, I'd really appreciate a note with a few dimensions, ie bore of tube andf length etc
If nobody has actually got a set like this, does anyone have any knowledge regarding this sort of thing please?

Is'nt there a set in your bent lazers or had they allready been ground out. Whilst they are removable they are welded in place from new.

I thought there was a set of the race cans wirth removable baffles? My cans took a severe clout but thanks for theingo, i'll have a look and see if i can get what's left out!

I've just checked my cans that have been lying round the dining room for two months under the fairing, headers, Y piece and tail section. My wife is (was) very understanding

Baffle is a 50mm diameter tube with 2mm walls.
What I hadn't previously noticed is that there us secondry funnel which starts around 20mm into the first tube and then extends 55mm a further into the can.

To be honest.....i wouldn't waste my time making up a set cause I fitted the Lazers, ran about for a while then spent bloody ages pulling the dam things out.......and I could't tell the differance, maybe a wee tiny bit louder but not much. They are NOT a miracle cure to noise and they ain't going to make it go away.....just pull the clutch in, it's so much easier!!

Hi all. I have a set of Lazers fitted. Do I understand correctly, that they DO have removable baffles? How do i get them out to make a bit more noise?
PS - I KNEW they did!!

The baffles are held in by a spot weld. Well they are on mine anyway.

Can anyone tell me if your lasers are "duotech" cans, according to my local dealer, they dont make 'em for the S???, if not duotech then what are they called?, I think the problem is because the distributor is now Motrax, and they are hopeless.

I remember a conversation some of us had with the GB Boxercup team at Donington a couple of years ago - apparently they'd found the bikes ran better with the 'baffles' left in place. Looking at the other bikes around the paddock, it seemed 95% of the other teams felt this way too.

Been away for a bit so sorry for the late reply...

Again speaking from experiance of removing the baffles.....honestly don't waste your time!!...but....

The best tool to use is a dremmel or small grinding point tool.....don't drill them out as you are left with a horrible hole in a set of £££ cans!!! Get a thin screwdriver and try prying up the baffle in order to snap the remaining weld from between the baffle and can......the get somethin to hook inside the baffle and pull....and pull and pull....and out they pop and depending on how good you are with the grinder depends on the damage to the can....result....a whole afternoon for not much more sound!!

My experiences are a bit different.

I felt that removing the baffles changed the tone of the exhaust note and probably made it a bit louder. Increased performance? Because the noise was different (louder) it sounded faster but I am probably not good enough to tell whether or not it really was faster!

If you prise the baffle away to break the spot weld then it will probably be sufficiently distorted as to make it difficult (if not impossible) to replace tidily.

Also don't forget the extra tack welds. Much easier to drill the spot weld and then hammer the insert inwards to break the tack welds and pull out with pliers.

Ah yes - but remember that there are lots of things that they were not allowed to do that seem to be fairly commonplace on this forum. K1200RS fuel pressure regulators, Inducts, Techlusion and the soon to appear Power Commanders are just a few of the things that spring to mind.
