abs easy fix

Post by madbutcher »

Been out for a blast on Saturday and washed bike. Fired up and noticed the general warning red light stayed on. ABS light flashing away as it does till you move off. Checked all I could before going down the disconnect battery to reboot route. Then was advised to check rear brake light bulb. As it was working perfectly I thought it was a waste of time but spent a quid on a new bulb and fitted in seconds. Hey presto worked perfect. Oh forgot to say bike is a 2003 1100s abs

Were both filaments intact?
ABS bikes of that age had a feature where intact filament could substitute for broken one in double filament bulb, so all appears well when actually a filament had gone. Not explained it well, but it's in the handbook somewhere.

Cheers

Had problems in the truck with twin filament bulbs where the filaments intact but one has stretched and touches the other causing an intermittent fault
