2500 miles & 7 days in Scotland and I have created myself a huge problem.... WHAT DO I DO WITH MY 1150GS...??
The 12S has really surprised me, I found it more comfortable overall than the GS, faster, more fun and MUCH more economical - over 50 mpg all week.
Only downsides were a slight reduction in luggage capacity and that's it !
Despite some mixed weather the 12S performed impeccably and will be my choice of mount for going to the South of France next year. Only mods I have made over stock are fittng Helibars (brilliant despite reservations beforehand) Sport panniers and a BMW small softbag (HIGHLY recommended)
It'll probably take me a week to fettle it thogh cos it looks like a grow bag at the moment - feckin Scottish weather !
I'll vouch for the harsh on tyres bit... found this tear in the rear on Thursday after a particularly spirited run back to Glenmoriston from the Kyle of Lochalsh,,
Had to buy a new rear from Mitchells in Inverness ££££££ !!

Blimey Dave, that looks more serious than rough/grippy Tarmac! How old/miles is the tyre? If that was mine I'd contact the manufacturer, did it with Karens Bridgestone (had a strange bulge) got a replacement from them.

The tyres were brand new when I left home and had done less than 1000 miles when I found the split. (Took my Corsa Rossos off and fitted Continental Conti Motions for better mileage whilst away - have used and fitted them to lots of bikes and never had a problem...they are a brilliant all round tyre for the money)
I initialy thought it was a slight cut and would 'wear out' but after getting it very hot on the last run the cut started peeling back and was virtually down to the carcass....
We concluded at Mitchells that it was a cut and not a manufacturing defect ... bit of a p*sser though I paid £20 more for a new rear alone than I got the pair for....

Yeah - buying a tyre "ad-hoc" can be a bit on the pricey side - and of course.......... you never get a puncture on a worn-out tyre

Be carefull out there getting punctures fixed, i just had to get one fixed on Ann's car first place i went to wanted £8 i agreed then the fella got out a lacing kit i told him if i wanted it laced i would have done it at home i took the car elsewhere they charged me £15 but did a propper job.
Don't just trust them to do a good job watch them doing the job
This was the state of my mates tyre after a fast run north from applecross towards Ullapool on the coast road (during the May 2012 heat wave!!)
This tyre was on the bike when he bought it so didn't know how old or what mileage and due to the relatively lack of tread he struggled to see how worn it was-but saying that he was spinning it up coming out of corners on his Tuono!!
We managed to limp 50 miles to Inverness but with 175 miles to go to home decided it would never make it so had to stop in Inverness to ge a new one......And for the record no you cast source a motorcycle tyre anywhere in Inverness on a Sunday
Had to leave the bike and ride pillion all the way home!!
