I'd always figured that it was just that journos had their heads so far up their own f*cking arses that they were more aerodynamic and that's why it seemed to have 10 hp more !

Try harder it will be worth it. Any thing worth having takes a bit of effort and if you buy a cheapo Jap bike you will always be wondering if the 1100s would have been better, and do you know what ? It is.

My BCR is the first BWM ive owned its an 04 model and I bought it from Vines In Guildford.
ive test ridden both the 1100s and the BCR the one I now own and I definatley prefered the BCR mainly because its much higher in the seat and being 6'+ its ideal.
the bike i went to test ride was a Mandarin and graphite which I think is one of the best looking S's but it had been sold that day,I was offered the test ride on the only other S in stock which happened to be the BCR I tested her for the whole day (one of the real benefits of a BMW dealer)
I wanted something that I could scratch on one weekend and the next shoot up to Cumbria to visit mates with luggage 2 up.
I must say the VFR never came into my radar scope im afraid Hondas appeal to me like dish washers and fridges there very reliable you need one and everyone else has got one.
it had to have shaft drive which narrows things down considerable and had to be pillion friendly.
I am not much of a Jap bike fan as there are very few that light my fire as they seem to look all the same eventualy, I did consider a Triumph 955i but i already own 2 sports bikes so having another chain to lube put it out of the running.
If you love Jap bikes I think you'll find it a bit of a culture shock as they vibrate quite badly above 4500 rpm the gearbox is different"(but not as bad as a Guzzi) they handle totaly differently and wont keep up with the current 600s.
Having said all this I love my BCR the colours are striking it stands out in any bike park, and once you get adjusted and keyed into the handling you can keep up with anything even 2 up as a pillion makes no difference to the handling at all.
it takes a full load of luggage and pillion and still handles and returns 50+ 90% of the time.
All I would add is before I had the BCR I averaged 3000 miles a year on 3 bikes, in 4 months I did 4500 miles on one instead of plodding around Sussex ive been to Scotland and Cornwall.

Only you can decide if its for you but do take one out more than once and more than an hour best to go to dealer and get it for the day and take a pillion for one of the rides.
