HID Online At first glance it appears to be an American site as the prices are in $ but they're actually based in Chester.

Chris,

One thing to point out to your mate. When I got the Blade one of the HID bulbs fitted so I tried it on the low beam. Because the focal length of the bulb is different I had to aim the light down which then buggered up main beam as it was lower than dip. If he does buy HID's he'll need to change both lights.

The Blade has three bulbs, one for dip and two for main. As standard it's as good as the S with HID's.

Hid lights

Chris,

You could try www.nippynormans.com .I dealt with them when I
fitted an HID light to my S . They were very helpful and quick with
delivery .

And they sell exactly the same kits as HID Online but at increased prices... last time I checked anyway. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Adam :)

Adam,

Looked at the HID site, which kit is the one to pick H7 or H1 and 4100 or 6000. I would be very interested in getting a kit. And some help to fit it, as I was not gifted with mechanical knowledge

4100 is supposedly the best. H1 for low beam and H7 for high beam. If you go for both ask for the car kit to suit and they will supply the H1 and H7 - you get two of everything else anyway.

As for fitting it, I never got round to it and sold it on to Paul (Seadog) who's up your way... well he's in Scotland anyway :D

I know come autumn I'll probably want one again

On another subject, where did you get your FIM chip to go with your staintune and lennies induct? I'm thinking ahead and if I like the staintune I may go the next step later on.

Adam,

I got it from Pro Twins in Godstone Surrey. If you look on the FIM web site they have the link to Pro Twins. If you havn't got that let me know and I'll dig out the site and tele number.

The FIM chip is very good as it is mapped exactly for the mod's. I was the first person to get the chip for the twin spark engine from FIM, as I asked for it before they had made it. Pro Twins kept contacting them till it was done, I got it before the States.

Has anyone got any experience of fitting a HID kit?
I'm in desperate need of some improved lighting but if I'm going to spend that kind of money I don't want to mess up the installation and I'd rather not pay someone else to chip the paint and scratch the plastic - after getting the HID I'd not be able to even if I wanted to :)

Also would I need to get a H1 and a H7 or just a H7?

Cheers

I'd go for both. In for a penny, in for a pound? :D

Where are you located,LR? I don't see many problems fitting the HID apart from where to put the ballast/s. Several here have already done theirs, and I have wired in a set of PIAA's on the KRS.
I should mention I'm an electrician by trade... :?

Just the lo beam and uprate the bulb in hi. I don't do electrics but managed to fit one last winter without frying myself or the bike so it must be straightforward. Any questions? fire away.

I'm in Woking, Surrey. What are PIAA's? Excuse my ignorance.

I read on a different thread on this forum that fitting HID's are technically illegal and could cause insurance problems in the event of a crash. Now I'm not planning on crashing but should something bad happen I wouldn't want to jeopardise a claim.

Has any fitted anything that is legal and still worth having?

Thanks for the replies btw... always good to know that someone's already done it and still been able to ride the bike afterwards

The PIAA's I mention are 1100X's. They are small globular driving lights that are very bright, as some on the board will attest! :D

I did a rebuild of the supplied harness and hid all the wiring from relay to lights in the K's harness.

I'm looking at a HID upgrade myseld and I'm in Maidstone, Kent. Could be an opportunity to do a couple at once. :)

Ah cheers for the explanation.

I'd be up for a group spanner session to fit them... I'm fairly comfortable around electronics etc.. just lack a bit of confidence tackling jobs on something as valuable as my bike.
