Luckily my 12s battery has gone flat and its not looking like it's going to restore, been on charge all day.. no joy.
So where/who can supply a battery without needing to sell a kidney.

I've no idea what battery they use,but the GS is notorious for duff batteries,BM have done as good a job of sweeping it under the carpet,as H have with rectifiers on VFR's.

Its the same battery as the GS Chris--along with the same problems!! BMW technician has been out to mine now and diagnosed a duff battery (tell me something I don't know) Bringing me a new one under warranty later this week. I'm sure i'll upgrade once the warranty runs out.
Regards Peter.

My battery man tells me the record for a GS,is either 6 or 7 before the warranty ran out.

What is the problem with this battery? I haven't had a problem with mine so far (oh sh£$t what have I said). To be honest, if mine goes, I'm not gonna fart around with a warranty claim, I'd prefer to pay for one that isn't gonna go phut.

Stevie,
I think the problems stem from the fact that in the effort to save weight BMW fitted a small battery to the 1200 series. Bikes with ABS & factory alarms appear to suffer the most. Mine was fine until recently (hardly ridden since Nov) but at £70 a throw I'll take the warranty thankyou.

Ah, so it's a deep-discharge problem? I keep mine plugged into a conditioner if I'm not using it for a while, so possibly that's why I haven't suffered so far.
£70 seems a bit steep for a battery. Is it made from unobtainium?

Give BMW Emergency Assistance a call on 0800777111.
If you bike is under warranty you're entitled to get it fixed on site as the bike will not site, or they should arrange for the bike to be collected and redelivered.
Go on call them now! They'll be out tonight and might be back tomorrow with a battery!

When will this end!! Battery has been on charge since 8-30pm yesterday, Just tried to start it and alls well. Get ready to go out and try again---back to the same problem, Not enough power to turn the thing over!!! Engine electronics symbol coming up on the dash along with general warning light. BMW technician should be ringing back soon hopefully with some answers. I'm getting pretty pi--ed off with this, Now where's that Honda brochure.
