Circlip on rear caliper pad retention pin ...

... mine has 'done one'.

Changed the pads and rear line for HEL braided last night - bit dark - all good and bled through nice and easy ... but as always something has to go wrong.

Always leave it to last so I can tap the pin fully in with the caliper in place and then put the clip on. Anyway - circlip missing and no amount of searching with torch could find it.

Anyone tell me the dimensions / size of the clip? I have a motor factors next door and would be good if I could get one. Lock wired (er, paper clip bodge!) for today's ride.

Cheers.

Is it possible to take the pin out and take it with you to the factors, or does that mean a lot of disasembling again?

At work so no tools handy and not sure if I fancy it ... will do that when I get a chance. Takes a fair bit of effort to get the pin out - needs a good tap. Happy with my paperclip for the time being

Stick with the "race-inspired" lockwire (which I'm sure looks remarakble like a paperclip)

I drilled the pin near the inner sidewall of the calliper and fitted an R clip through it. I dont think a much reused circlip is reliable.
AND I have two R clips securing each of the front pins. Just my choice.

R-clips a good idea ...

I am quite fond of my racing lockwire, ahem ...

Seems a lot more secure than the silly little circlip anyway.

I'll stick with that for now.

My dipped HID has decided to stop working - so first things first.

Always something!
