Recently received the following recently from someone in the community - thoought it might come in handy for others

http://www.pbase.com/rodneff/keying_bmw_locks.

I also have a pair standard (not city) lids available to anyone that particularly needs a pair (all the correct "BMW Touring" badging etc) I could be persuaded to part with for £60pr + the postage (approx £7) - handy for anyone with damaged lids and good panniers.

Hi, I have done this and managed to do it with only one sprag per lock not used. I cannot remember the number (either 1, 2 or 3) but if any one does this and needs extra sprags let me know and I will check and send them on to you.

regards

Stuart

Alternatively you can get a BMW "lock repair kit" from Motorworks for £15 or so. Complete set of sprags (tumblers), new cylinder, & the tiny springs, plus destructions. Allows you to change the lock without compromising security by leaving out a sprag.
