Tipping the Northern balance

Hi all,
Noticed a few new members from the South, so I thought I'd better tip the balance back to God's own county!
The name's Ed, and bought a 1999 R1100S in October after 3 years on a Cagiva Navigator. Was originally wanting a GS, but being a poor (mature!) student couldn't afford silly money...anyway, the S makes me smile every time I walk into the garage, so no regrets.
One question - are 2nd hand panniers as rare as they appear to be ( i.e as rocking horse do-do)?
Roll on better weather,
Ed

Im in Skipton area so if you are up for a run anytime, drop me a line

Welcome on board Ed and good luck sourcing the luggage. It might be worth your while putting a wanted post in the bits and bobs for sale forum, as R-man just did, since he seems to have found a set from Steve W.
Cheers,
Paul

Panniers and rails certainly turn up on Ebay from time to time. Worth keeping your eye open.

Welcome aboard Ed.
Panniers and fitting kits are not that rare on here and certainly not on fleabay (try searching R1100S in europe as well as the UK). They are however, always expensive

You see - there's that nasty word again...expensive! Heard of them going for nearly as much as new on ebay. I've posted a 'wanted' on the bits & bobs, and tatty not a problem!
RE: Whats the navigator like?
Great bike, comfy, quick, nimble, and a bit of a hooligan on the quiet. But also a great tourer...so why did i get rid? 12 weeks off the road in summer 2006 waiting for a new fuel pipe from Italy, and 4 weeks summer 2007 waiting for a relay! So in summery, owning can be a gamble that could be very rewarding. Or quite annoying.

Don't tell me - a blue one and a silver one at Motostrada? If so, the silver one's my old steed! And yes they are on the high side of the price range - if only I'd known about this forum when I was selling, you could have had yourself a bargain mate!
Oh well, easy come, easy go. Well, easy go anyway.

Aye, you never beat a dealer do you.
Thanks very much for the help. A nice blue navigator , one owner luggage etc etc went on ebay last month with 13k miles for 2100, i think it was a 2001.
