Hmmmm..... ABS is a bit dodgy........

Had a funny, but quere moment yesterday.

Coming down to a set of traffic lights in Amesbury coming from the ol' NAAFI distribution centre i.e. London Road, I came to the lights and the car in front decided they wasn't going to make it through the orange light.

So I anchor-on quite reasonably but the road must have been a bit greasy as the back wheel locked-up and the back come around a little. I naturally released and got the bike pointing to the side of the car but stopped before I even got to it.

Now, what makes me scared is that mine has EVO-ABS surely for it to lock long enough for the back to drift means that it is total shite? anybody else experienced this with the ABS?

I don't think this is the ABSs fault personally - I've had it a couple of times and of course part of the function is for the tyre to actually skid, even a tiny bit, but maybe quite a few times in that situation, and each little skid can result in the back coming round a little - it usually (in my limited experience) feels worse than it is. This is in total contrast to the VICIOUS TOUCHY BASTARD of a back brake on my Chundercat that can have the tail wagging like a dog near a reeeealy perty beeeeeatch if you so much as think about touching it when hard on the front

'tis a strange beast, can anybody actually explain to me the feeling that teh ABS gives you when it does actually cut in? is it a rapid audible noise and feel anything through the brakes? didn't feel or hear anything this time, but I did get to feel something on black ice a few months back.

You feel the lever 'pulsing' as the abs releases the brakes and then eases them on again

Rob - you also get the noise, quite like when the system is setting itself from pulling away etc.
