OK. Lets get the bike in the air - need to remove the wheel just to remove the front fender. And engine hoist may be a bit unconventional but its a doddle. (and yes...that is a canon in my front garden - carol singers beware!!!)
Right. Up she comes and the wheel is off - but not before the front of the fender is off as well as the calipers.
Eugh! That's filthy - wheres my WD40?
That's better - shiny shiny.
Right. While we're in the air I may as well check that my new front wheel I bought off ebay fits. Yep - straight in. I can get a tyre for it now.
Now fit the new carbon front fender - 5th time lucky. Those screws are tricky to put in upside down.
Quick wipe over with some polish before putting her back to bed.
Yes PB it sure is...
£910 list price at Rossiters.
I didn't pay that though...made BMW Bike Parts an offer of £500 inc. postage which I think is a more realistic price.
The rear has a list price of £600.
There was a rear one that came up for auction too from a different seller - but after the auction ended ebay security sent a mail telling me not to pay for it if the seller demanded payment. All a bit weird since I didn't win the auction...
Still. My bonus is due after xmas so may start shopping around for the rear.
The Bridgeport valve by the way, came from the NEC show - £7.50 each in a variety of colours. Worth it for fitting to the rear next time you change rubber - makes getting to the valve a doddle.
I'm toying with the idea of getting some Galfer/Braking wave discs - but would like to hear some feedback on them before parting with cash.
Anyway - once its got rubber and discs on it I should be able to say how much weight saving it provides. I'm not expecting much because the originals look pretty light as they are.
On the list to come is that matching rear wheel. Either a RapidBike or Wunderlich injection fueling upgrade, a bit more carbon and possibly a change of colour to the main panels. The Colgate scheme looks good - but I've got an idea for something a bit different (well in fact so different I may have to get it sprayed again if I ever want to sell it)
Stoney - the wheel came like that. I had thought of doing the bike like the new HP2 scheme and having it done blue but it looks good enough in black as it is.
On the subject of fueling - does anyone know if BMW can change the map during the service to give it a bit more fuel? I know they can do it with the K1200s as my mate has just had his 'tamed' by Rainbow to reduce vibration, using a map from an available library supplied by BMW themselves.

I spoke to a guy on an R1200s in Germany in September who indicated that they could. He reckoned they could smooth out - i.e increase the power delivery below 5000rpm. If you ask and get anywhere let us know!
