1100S - Ownership Come to an End!

Post by BMWBob »

Well I joined the Forum a couple of years ago after buying a 98 S. Thoroughly enjoyed the bike but got the bug for a change this year :) Dallied with a few options such as a Moto Guzzi 1200S and 1200GS but couldn't make up my mind (or possibly stretch the finances ).

I finally got seduced by an immaculate 2005 Boxer Cup but alas it didn't seem to gel  Not quite sure why, though ostensibly the same bike it seemed slightly more focussed and less suited to our two-up touring needs. So the Boxer Cup has gone to be replaced by an 1150GS. The GS seems to fit our needs better.

Shan't be leaving the Forum though, you're too friendly a bunch for that  I'll be hanging around to read the banter. Hopefully post a picture of the new steed soon.

Regards,
Bob

All the best with the GS Bob - and glad you're going to be sticking around. :)

I've had 4(!) different 11S's - the last of which was an '04 BCR (RWB) which I never really gelled with, so I know exactly what you mean. I felt the bike had been taken further than it really wanted to go ie in the attempt to get it to steer really quickly (which it did - susprisingly so) it, for me, ruined the rest of it. Was still very very pretty though. :)

Plus riding PB's 1200S for a few hours put the nail into its coffin. :( ;)

That's my plan too.... in a couple of years time, I intend to buy a 1200 GSA when the prices come down from their silly position now. I think my back can take a couple more years and I enjoy the S so much.

Good luck with it.

Yep, I too can see the allure of the GS, I actually prefer the Old 1100 version myself and can see me ending up on one maybe in a couple of years or so

Plenty on the forum anyway, nearly as many on the OOp Norf tour if memory serves me right

Yes.......... and here we have a very fine example in it's natural habitat.

For all you who missed it, we passed this very spot on the Proper Up North tour - and - the sun was shining...

I love teh 1150gs, more so than the 1200, but thats probably down to having loads of niggles with the 1200 and both the 1150's Ive had being bullet proof.
Good luck with it, I expect I'll be on an 1150 again soon
