sandbar rear hugger?

I was thinking of buying one of the sandbar fenders that mount off the rear brake caliper. The mount looks a bit weak. Has anyone used one of these for some time as to test the durability?
They sure look cool especially from the left side of the bike

They are ilmberger and are one of the best you can get. Dont worry about teh strength

Me too - I have the Ilmberger one & it's as strong as a strong thing on a strong day in a strong wind.....

Yep, 9k in all weathers and still looks good as new ... bracket is reinforced and very strong. Superb quality (as it should be for the price).

Two years and 12 or 13 thousand miles I reckon. Going fine. Look better than Pyramid for not a lot more.

I've had one waiting to fit for ages. I find myself just kind of turning it over in my hands... a real piece of art, shame to hide it away down there in all the cr@p and gunk from the back wheel!

There is a guy in the US that sells them on E-Bay for a good price. I bought a front fender from him last summer and it's beautiful. He says they are the same as Wunderlich. Here is the link.

They come packaged up real nice and arrive in just a few days. I ordered a rear one yesterday. Listed my old carbon rear on e-bay, I should be able to recover a few dollars from it. It was just too short. I spent about 2 hrs cleaning all the road grime it missed of the pipes last week.

Even with postage from the States the item would be £165.
Sandbar advertises them for £189.99

If I recall Nigel offers trixsters a discount - maybe 10%, and he is local which can make dealings easier.
From my experience the huggers vary in their level of success. I can't speak for the 1100s one, but the R1200s hugger is excellent.
The ones they did for the GS were just as useless as all the other GS huggers out there. I went through a few of the Mark 1s, which usually ended up rattling, and only offered limited protection as they were too short,and the longer version was a joke as it just had a single sheet of carbon fibre which fell to pieces as soon as it got wet. I have a friend with the revised Mark 2 and is actually sounds worse.
