Really? Do you know him personally that you can say that? Or just because he is German? I have seen some documentaries where you got to see him in a more personal setting, off-track and he came across as a very nice and very friendly person. On-track he is very focussed and professional, to the point of being arrogant. As was for instance Mickey Doohan. But you should not mistake the person from what you see whilst doing his job.
It's a bit like fighter pilots. If they aren't convinced they are God's gift to jets, they aren't good enough to be fighter pilots. You see that with all great drivers too. Except Schumi isn't even being arrogant when he feels he's better than anyone else on the track, cause he is.

Ah!!! Is that what it was?throttlemeister wrote: to the point of being arrogant.
Silly me. All those incidents!
*Taking Damon Hill off in Australia.
*Trying to take Villeneuve off
*Involvement with the Benetton electronic cheating
*'Stalling' and blocking the track at the Rascasse towards the end of practice at Monaco.
And those are just the ones that I can remember
So it was just arrogance. And I thought it was something else entirely!

At the end of the day guys I tend to agree with Throttlemeister - you can't take it away from Schumi - he was the best in his field for many years, but he did make F1 a little boring, as he was so good, regardless of driving conditions!!
I, for one, rate him as one of the best F1 drivers of all time.
Well that's my twopen'th.

Shame on you Throttlemeister..... His Nationality was not even mentioned...and is not relevant.
He was probably the best driver in the world... But he was not a nice human being.... Sandbar has it ..... taking Damon off was enough for me.
Just imagine if you had that sort of behaviour on the GP scene...tooooooo dangerous.

That's called racing. Remember the saying "all is fair in love & war"? You do what you need to do to win. You intentionally search for the limits of what is possible or allowed. Sometimes you cross the line.sandbar wrote:Ah!!! Is that what it was?throttlemeister wrote: to the point of being arrogant.

Remember Senna and Prost wheel banging and ending up in the gravel together in the last race to decide the championship? They intentionally ran each other of the track. Remember Mansell? They all had 'tricks' like that. But when a German does it, its wrong?
And I distinctly remember certain actions of a V. Rossi that can be considered the same thing too. Or a mister M. Melandri who has dissed a few too over the years.
It happens in all sports, and blaming Schumacher for being a bad person while hailing others that display the same behavior is just stupid.
I don't blame him. It is not his fault - he just is!throttlemeister wrote: ...........and blaming Schumacher for being a bad person.........
And because other people are the same does not justify it.

Where were we hailing somebody else for behaving in the same way?

Sandbar... I do not think we will win this one.
Most of us will never know any celebrity that well.... therefore we judge them by their public personae... even when knowing that this man may be different in "private".
Again most of us can judge people/racers/celebrities and judge whether they are good sportsmen/women or simply good drivers... My view is that Schumacher is a good driver but a shit sportsman....and a bad human being.... there is a difference in "playing the game" in whatever sport it is, but he simply went too far for my taste.
His nationality/colour/race/ethnicity/dressing on the right or left simply does not come into it.
Here endeth the lesson.

I fully accept thet he was one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, however it's a fact, he cheated more than once, blatantly and even to the point of losing all his points one season.
He was an exceptional talent, but he went over the line too many times to make it acidental. That tainted it for me.
Despite that, 5 seconds off Pedrosa, wow!
Rossi is superb in F1 cars too isnt he, and quick in rally cars, as Mcrea was very quick on bikes.
Some people are just naturals.

PBboxer.... Now you are talking.
... I think you are talking about all rounders here.... natural talents on 2 or 4 wheels...
For me it is Mike Hailwood..... A true sportsman.... fricking quick and a gentle man to boot.
