From the Heart

Post by PBBoxer »

I'm trying to set up a fund to enable us to purchase and engineer a trike, for a very close friend of mine who's had the worst luck possible in the past few years.
Some of you know her and know the situation, some of you dont.
Her name is Ally and she is one of the most generous, fun-loving people Ive ever had the honour to know. She's a biker, she's great fun, she's warm, friendly and most of all loved by thoise who know her. She came to my 40th Birthday party in December.

Ally has, for the third time come down with a very serious illness. Its affected her hips and has taken her ability to ride a bike away.
This is someone who despite being very seriously ill, has undertaken to set up a Bikers Cafe in conjunction with the CMA. Biker stop, free brews / breakfasts etc. Typical of her.

I really want to give her something special that will enable her to keep riding. Chirs and his dad came up with the stunning idea of a Trike.

I dont want her to know a thing about any of this just in case it doesnt come off, but I'm asking if any of you can either help me with some fund raising, or indeed any contributions towards the goal.

Chris and his father have very generously offerred to re engineer the vehicle we buy.

I dont ever do things like this, but in this case I feel really strongly and would really appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Paul, that's a geat idea and if I can help in any way I will. you probably already know about NABD www.nabd.org.uk as they have some links with the CMA, although I / we didn't gel with them after Julie's accident  but please don't let that stop you, as I know they have done great work in this field. I have a good friend who is heavily involved with the cma, so I will tap his font of knowledge.

good Luck

Hi Chaps,

I live in a pretty closed community at the moment and do not know many people... so do not know how I can help there... but I would be very happy to contribute.

Keep me posted.

Hi Paul

Great idea.

You could try the justgiving website http://www.justgiving.com. I've donated via it in the past but never set anything up.

I've no idea how you go about setting up a charity but it you did you'd be able to use gift-aid and claim the tax back on any donations.

Whatever you do we're all behind you. We all know this could very easily happen to any of us or those close to us at any time. I firmly believe in treating others as you'd like to be treated so you've got my support.

When its up and running keep us posted as I'd like to donate something - also give me a shout if you need a logo or anything designed for the fund branding.

Not sure what can contribute in the way of fund raising but I'll willingly donate a tank of petrol to the cause.

Many thanks for the replies

We only really got together this weekend and made the decision to try for her, so it'll take a few days to get anything in place.

Great ideas, will look into them all.
Thanks again

Not sure if I can be of any help from down south but let me know. I am a NABD member and have been for a few years so let me know if you need me to contact and give them a shove ...

Chris Ireland used to build a lot of trikes (under the desperate dan name) - think the company is now defunct but they still have an active forum (see below) ... sure they'll be folk on there to offer an advice you need:

Still pushing hard and hoping to buy something before the end of November and have it to her by xmas. Dream big, might get somewhere near it eh lol
