I'm currently administrating a Driver Training Assessment Programme for work, provided by IAM Fleet, and have been asked to look at training options for motorcyclists within the company. The driver assessment consists of a two-part online assessment and an on-road assessment for any identified high-risk drivers.
I originally supported rolling this out to all our staff (approx 300) supporting a 24-hour safety idea of increasing the chance of someone making it into work, but was over-ruled on costs. Having had three staff hospitalised for some time due to motorcycle accidents in the last six to nine months management have had a rethink and would like to take care of us motorcyclists.
Neither I nor the IAM feel that the online assessments are suitable and fully support road based assessment/training. Since we are spread around the country it would be nice to find a national body to help with this, but I thought I'd ask the board members for info on any trainers/schools they would recommend even if they are regional rather than national. Anyone...?

Well I did a 2 day BikeSafe course in September via Warwickshire Bill. Well worth while, and very much more down to earth than I'd been expecting. Covered about 150+ miles on each day, emphasis on "making progress" safely, and no-one was hanging around - definitely a weekend for grownups and by the end of it we were all cream crackered. www.bikesafe.co.uk.

Thanks to all respondees so far. I've sent a email off to our local police regarding the BikeSafe scheme and am continuing to trawl for options and costs. There appear to be one or two national possibilities but the costs vary quite a bit. I'm trying to ascertain whether the company need any evidence of training, qualification and what their ultimate buy-in might be. Signing everyone up for RoSPA of IAM may be cheaper and provide a better solution but requires longer commitment and interest from the participants.
If someone was to offer you some training at no cost to you, albeit potentially in your time, would you be willing to commit to it? I think it may be better to canvas opinion from around the company along those same lines whilst drawing up options.
