R1200S grab rail

Post by iamwu »

Hi

I've taken the R1100S and R1200S for test rides today. Was very impressed with the R1200s but without some sort of grab rail or grab handles it's no good for taking a pillion. Many may say that it is crazy to ruin the rear end with such a modification as this is a sports bike but I'm talking practicality.

Does anyone know of any after market or official bmw options for adding a grab rail of some sort to the R1200s? I saw that there is an option for adding a frame under the seat for attaching luggage. Presumably something similar could be done for a grab rail for the pillion.

Cheers.

Hi William, Ventura have a rail system for their luggage which offers a pillion rail.

The R1200S is no good for a pillion ..... with or without grab rail. It's a sports bike. Buy the R1100S it is an easier, smoother ride which is more comfortable for your passenger.

Tried the R1100s at the South London BMW store - highly unimpressed. The R1200s was great. I'll bare your advice in mind tho.

Thanks for the link Steve. Will take a closer look.
