Huggers etc Help required

Hi All,

Help required, I would like to replace the front mudguard and add a hugger with CF, I have got it down to either the Illumberger or Pyramid Plastics, my question is which one is best for looks and general fit? 8)

I ould also like to fit a Belly pan as well but have only seen items on ebay so far. I would most likely paint this so either painted or ready to paint would be ideal. so , if any one here could point me in the right direction that would be great. :D

Hi,

I've owned 2 'Ss, the first had the Ilmberger hugger and the second had the Pyramid Plastics version. Of the two, I would go for the Ilmberger again, given the choice.

That nice fellow sandbar runs Sandbar Composites which sells the Ilmberger stuff. Mention that you are a Boxertrix member and he may be persuaded to give you a discount. PM him.

I can vouch for Sandbar being a nice fellow as he replaced my Illumberger hugger when it bust a while ago free of charge. The Illumgerger ones look far better than the pyramid plastic ones and a recent modification is that the mounting lugs have now been beefed up a fair bit to prevent metal fatigue. Sandbars your man for these parts.

Yep, Ilmberger it is ... got mine through Sandbar - thoroughly nice chap and he cut me a deal ... superb quality and fit.

All right then Looks like Illmberger is the one for looks and fit! so I will be speaking to mr Sandbar very shortly.

I fitted a Triumph one to my TT600 02MY and it was a rear wheel out job. :shock: Are the front and rear quite east to fit to tyhe R1100S?

The wheel can stay in situ to fit the hugger, since it mounts using the brake caliper bolts. For the front mudguard, you need to remove the wheel to get access to a bolt which goes up through the mud guard into the fork brace.

I think the front is already CF... or part CF... so maybe you do not need to change it??

Yup the front is part cf / part placcy. I've just got a really clean spare off fleabay and it weighs bugger all.
The Ilmberger ones do look the biz if you need to add finishing touches but that'd be at the tail end of any improvement list I'd think.

:D The limberger is certainly the hugger that i'd go for elkesprint but when you are ordering it remember that you'll need 2 longer by 10mm bolts to fix it on with coz the hugger is 10mm thicker! and it's a hugger that will protect your shocker as well as look good,cheers tim.

The hugger comes with the longer bolts as part of the standard package

I am going to replace the front guard at the same time as the rear(funds permitting), The front looks like a disk lock has bashed it about abit, there is piece that has been stuck back in, not sure if it would repair with a CF repair kit because of the Placcy? :roll:

I deffo go with illumberger for the new ones.

Turn up at Hawes on Sat morning and you will be able to inspect various options. I'd always go for the Limberger option, May cost a bit more but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for"

Hi Herrman,

Would love to meet up Saturday Morning but, Wife working I've got kids to look after, ran out of credits last week end at Castle Donnington so hopefully next time around.

In the mean time I will keep checking the forums,I think it would be great to meet up with some other "trixsters"
