New job .... maybe.

Post by Neil178 »

Guy off to enjoy some B&B at one of Liz's finest temporary holiday camps.
Caught by 5-0 doing 170 odd in a Porsche 911 Turbo on an A road.
The Reporter said 'to give you some idea of how fast that is, it is the equivalent of 3 miles per second'. :?
Well, it must be true as it was just on the lunch time ITV news.
They obviously employ numpties so I'm off for an interview to try and get a new job! :P

They also reckoned it would take half a kilometer (500m) to stop from that speed. Porsche brakes must be complete rubbish.

Tiger Woods hits a golf ball at about 150mph and that stops in 300 or so yards without any brakes.

I can see the ads now... "Titleist, more stopping power than a 911 Turbo!

Given the quality, it must be that the TV news folks have stolen MCN's researcher.

Speeding is the new drink driving.
Once we are all with the programme they can have another try at motorcyclists. :(

If the guy wanted to get a buzz he should have GBH'd someone or committed a burglary. Community service at worst.

I believe there are some who would like speeding to be the new drink driving. Of these , some believe their own political interests will be best served by being on this bandwagon. But the popular mood does not seem to be responding to the campaign. In particular the greed cameras, which were introduced on very specific grounds (accidents avoided...injuries reduced...lives saved) have been shown to be so comprehensively ineffective at achieving their own stated aims that they must have damaged thecampaign generally. Despite which, a vast majority of the population has soaked up the "speed kills" message when it is so clearly wrong. (Unless we are talking of amphetamine sulphate, about which I know nothing :) )

As for our recent record breaker, IMHO he deserves to be put away. I believe the guidance for magistrates is that they should consider a custodial sentence for any offence over 120. The sentencing decision was pretty much made when he bagged himself the gold medal.
