R1200S Lights

Post by Man-of-Mystery »

What is your opinion of the lights on the R1200S?

I have heard of the conversion several of you have done to lights on the 1100S. Autumn is coming, and if I go in to the office early (I am sometimes there by 7.20am) I will be regularly riding in the dark. OK, a lot of that will be on the main road from Perth to Dundee, but I might choose one of the alternative routes from time to time, which cut through the countryside. Being well into middle age, my night vision is not what it was, so if there is a brighter alternative that you would recommend, I might consider it.

Any comments?

I put these in as soon as I got the bike. No idea how big a real improvement they are over the standard R12S lights because I couldn't compare, but I'm sure they're not as good as a HID.

Thanks for the tip, Stevie - next time we happen to be in the same place we'll compare brightness.

i would recomend PIAA powersport xtreme white plus pt number 70755 HE310se H7 55w gives 110w output (almost).

have gone HID in the mdip beam and this bulb in the main and works great.

I am sure that this as a dip would be a big improvement.

PS

Not cheap though

The standard Lights on the 1150GS were terrible but I've recently put in a 35W HID.

It's the best money i've spent on the bike...

Winger do I understand this correctly? Have you have only used dipped headlights, never main beam, since installing HID? If so, whose HID conversion , and was it for a R1100s?
