I use 75/90 on both our bikes but it is not made by Mobil. If the wife notices the difference on her bike then it was worth doing, and she thought that it was much better.

Hi hdp.
I use Mobil 1 SHC 75W-90 fully synth in my gear box and bevel box. It made a big difference to smoother gear changes though it does take a couple of hundred miles for the box to get used to it

Well worth changing it.
Cheers cobbster.
PS how's the cam chain tensioner change coming along?

Sorry forgot to report back, did the mod on Monday... SHEESH what a difference

all you her now are the valves when she starts up and while riding (going to do my Valve gaps this weekend, so she will be even quieter then

) . Worth every penny, thanks for the tip cobbster

Seriously if there are guys on here who have not done the mod i can strongly recommend it!
I really hope i can find the 75w90, everywhere i phone its sold out

. And i really dont want to use the Castrol EPX 90 (that the bmw dealer recommends) but there is plenty of that around...

The downside of Mobil 1 is getting it,i've used it for some years now,and on the occasion i couldn't get it, used something else and it was crap, keeping hunting for it.

Just changed my original gearbox oil (5 year old bike

) for the Mobil One snake oil but haven't ridden it yet. First ride will be a run down to Dover and on to Germany so will be interested to see how goes.
I'll let you know if there is a difference next week.
Chris, if you manage to find any more could you get me litre as I also want to change the rear diff oil but haven't got quite enough left

Nice let us know how it goes!
A guy here at work is a big Subaru fan and the guys on their forum all use Royal Purple in their cars, it is a fully synthetic GL5 75w90 oil:
What you guys think:

Hi hdp,
You will notice a difference to your gear box but not straight away. Its strange but it does take a couple of hundred miles before things bed in.
Cheers, cobbster
