You see quite a few advertised these days. Anyone got any experience, comments, recommendations?

Only really interested in the tank sides and centre panel not the whole bike.

Bob

Oddly enough i saw two guys yesterday doing a complete bike with it,turned up with a pasteing table and looked a bit of a drama to do,i've been off today doing other things i'll have a look tommorow, but i bet it ain't cheap,Boxerpan had the bonnet of his van done and that was over 300 quid.

I was thinking more along the lines of the £20 DIY kits

I've stuck some on my R1200S. Its from http://www.ventureshield.com/ and ordered it here http://www.motorvizi.com/producten/shop ... 200s06.php.

It's a bit of an excercise to put it on, but it does give you a bearly visible protection. At one meter distance you won't see it.

yes, but no doubt he went for the transparent sticky backed carbon fibre look though, hand woven by anorexic midgets at high altitude... (sorry Lloyd! )

I tried the Venture shield stuff and for me it looked shite. I bought the Wunderlich tank sides and top protectors instead. A bit more of a feature than the clear stuff but they do a good job. Only £28+vat.

Cheers, cobbster.

Thanks Cobbster why did it look shite! Did you think it was too visible or too difficult to apply neatly? I got the impression HJ seemed fairly happy with the Venture stuff though there is a big difference in price.

Hi,
Maybe it was my hamfistedness but it just looked very amature. The Wunderlich stuff is a properly made bit of kit thats hard to get wrong.

Cheers, cobbster.

AndrewS has some on his k1200s, I've seen it in the flesh at burton and it look great, barely visible until someone points it out. I'm not sure which make it is, but i'm sure Andrew will be along shortly to let you know.

Unfortunately my bike was done with the entire kit when new and was fitted by BMW so it was not cheap and I have no clue on the make. Maybe a chat with a local dealer will tell.

There again it is excellent and as Steve say's you cannot notice it and it is over a lot of the bodywork including front mudguard, tank, fairing sides, front forks, tail section etc, etc.

Here's a few pic's I've shot this afternoon. Just to give you an idea:

First attempt was on this side: there are some minor air bubbles (or is it dirt?)

You can see the edge though...

No one ever came up to me asking: Hey, whats that film you've got sticked on?

So I guess you won't notice untill pointed at. I've paid 150 EURO for tank side panels and top cover. They don't offer anything for the top center panel. It comes with all the accesoires you need (except spray flacons). It's not really easy, but also not very difficult to apply the film in such a way that it's without air bubbles. As long as you keep spraying soapy water, you can move the film around untill its in place.

Hi

Rhinoprotect is the same as ventureshield film but marketed by a UK company. I fitted it to my 1100S, 1150RS and to a SV650. Providing you follow the instructions and take your time it is easy to fit. If you do go wrong you spray on more solution and it peels off, so that it can be reapply.
When fitted you are hard pushed to see the protection. Great stuff

Thanks Chaps for all the replies, and going to the trouble of posting photos.

I think I'll give the Venture/Rhino film a go. Only want to do the tank sides and top so I'm hoping that'll be fairly straight forward (fingers crossed!).
