Help Needed - Seat Swop 98 to 05 Bike

Post by BMWBob »

I've exchanged my '98 1100S for a '05 model. With the 98 bike I had and have kept a seat that I had recovered in a less slippery material. Of course BMW in their wisdom  moved the rubber stops that the seat rests on further outboard.

To save having a newer seat recovered it did strike me that if there was anyone out there with access to suitable material and engineering resource it would be perfectly possible to knock-up a couple of stepped extension pieces that could slip over the bung posts on the 05 bike moving the rubbers inboard to accept the 98 seat.

I'm not too heavy so reckon it'd be pretty safe to do. I did try just moving the rubbers out on the existing posts but did feel this was quite secure enough!

Obviously if anyone can help there will be suitable beer money available by way of thanks

Regards,
Bob

It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.
