If youve read my previous post you will know that Ive just fitted a new Y piece, my question is, is it normal to get a fair bit of banging on the overrun, not always but especially if Ive really been caning it, Ive been told that the bike has a chip fitted and used to have a full laser system, obviously took off before the previous chap sold it.

Check that you have good a seal where the y piece meets the headers.Did you use new gaskets? Also check where the cans join.Any air entering at those place will make it pop and bang like a good un.
That said you will get a few pops and bangs which were previously masked by the cat.

Glad you raised this point, Timbox2
I too have just fitted a Y piece as well as a Laser rear box. Like you say, lots pf popping and banging, even on up gear changes

and I was wondering if it was normal for an S. My SV650 used to do pretty much the same thing but that had Viper race can.
Interesting point about air getting in the joints as I do have a slight 'blow' at the rear joint. I shall have to see if I can seal it up.

Your bike is fettled far to much and is in too good a state of tune.
I would suggest you mess up the throttle body balance to ensure a good pop and bang.

a knackered fuel pump maybe the cause of mine popping and banging on the overrun, still aint taken it for a proper run yet with the new fuel pump to see if it still does it, but shit does it have grunt now

must have been fading away for a few years as I had forgotten why I had originally brought it
