Nurburgring - better seat?

Post by Lars1974 »

Hi all,
i just got back to the UK last night after a 2000 mile round trip through Germany. including the Harz mountains and the Nurburgring. i did get a lap in at the ring as well, but there was oil on the track as 2 accidents happened just in front of me....what a crazy place that is!!!

anyway, having toured through SPAIN in May and now GERMANY and i definetely need some advice regarding the seats... i can manage about 60mls pain free but than it starts to hurt at the bum and the top of the legs....if i stop for a few minutes its ok for a while but than come back. i reckon the standard seat on my 1999s is just too narrow and to thin! any ideas how to imrove the seat?

Apart from that the bike is perfect, burned a biut of oil, just nothing excessive....

anyway, i look forward to your comments / suggestions...
thx Lars

Hi Lars, you could try Marty at smartrrrs http://www.smartrrrs.biz/
He can fit a gel pad to your stock seat for around £70. I used to suffer in the same manner as you describe, and was about to get my seat altered by Marty, but I never got around to it. I did change my leathers, which made a difference, and I also changed to a different style of underwear(seamless at the rear) which made a huge difference.

A nice bit of thick shaggy sheepskin to sit on works brilliantly
