Alarms

Hi
Does anyone have any decent contacts re alarms / purchase and fitting?

Ive just got another bike (traily type) and it needs an alarm otherwise I have to pay a heuuge wad extra insurance

I am very happy with my Datatool S4.

From my experience, Datatool brilliant, spyball sh!te, Acumen OK.

I have Datatool Sys 3 and a Meta 375. They are fairly similar except:

Datatools fob is more robust
Datatool allows you to input your own manual override code
Meta comes with an individual code.

Datatool allows you to configure it such that you have to actively arm the motion sensor (useful for petrol stations etc) or to have it arm automatically. (you earth the yellow wire to get the first configuration)

Meta requires the motion sensor actively armed.

You should be able to find an authorised installer in your area - either with premises or mobile.

I have a Datatool 3 which has been in constant use for over 4 years and survived Jason's best attempts to disable it when we stripped the bike..

Seems to work fine although the sensitivity on the alarm is a bit schizophrenic.

Key fobs are still on original batteries too.

One thing I didn't mention about the Datatool 3 that I had on my Daytona.....................

I sold the bike to a mate, and the alarm started acting up (wouldn't de-activate) - we assumed it was the battery in the fob, so resorted to the spare.

Next day, we pulled into a petrol station and the bike refused to re-start. It wouldn't even go into the manual override mode.

To cut a long story short - we got the terminal IDs from Datatool to bridge out the alarm/imobiliser completely, and we managed to get the bike running again.

No slight against Datatool - that is electronics for you, no matter who is the maker.

As I still have a Datatool alarmed bike - I would now carry a couple of bits of wire, a security torx driver and small snips in the tail of the bike. This is especially important if you are abroad on holiday (as we were) - as an alarm failure can seriously p1ss on your parade...........
