Was servicing the front brakes last night and also decided to replace the shockers. They are totally shot after 48K. The front one went ok but I'm having a bit of difficulty getting the rear one off. The bikes got a y - piece and Remus cans fitted and previous advice says to undo the 4 M6 bolts on the y piece to gain access to the lower bolt on the shocker. I've done this but the y piece is not moving out of the way sufficiently. Do I have to unbolt the end cans from their mountings and if so what has to come off the bike ?
Cheers

I guess it depends on which y-piece you have. With my laser y-piece, I removed the four bolts to the headers completely. This gave just enough wiggle room to remove the bottom shock bolt.

The Y piece has 2 rubber bungs which sit in lugs on the frame. By the time I got round to doing the rear shock in the garage last night it was a bit late so I only tried pulling these out of their lugs briefly but they don't seem to want to shift. I think there may be another bolt undeneath the exhaust which is also connecting it to the frame. This would explain why it does'nt want to shift. I'll have another look tonight.
