Standard steering damper 04 bxr cup
My steering damper appears to be passing hydraulic fluid.
( dont remember squirting WD in this area)Is it serviceable? Is it worth servicing? can any steering damper be fitted?

Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)
started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

I'd be tempted to take it off and bin it. I don't ever recall anyone on an S reporting a tankslappery type incident. I tend to think the steering damper was fitted as a marketing exercise rather than out of any necessity by our Bavarian buddies.
Just my 2p.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

its only there to create interesting moments filtering on a cold day..
mine has leaked since I had the bike, without noticably reducing the damping - never got round to removing it and now the fasteners are corroded...
I got the head to wobble at a track day once or twice a few years back, but I suspect that was more due to novice rider input rather than bike instability..
