Two questions:-


1. If rear Ohlin is feeling a tad shagged (it's a hard life on London), any suggestions to address...?

2. Is ABE recommended for Ohlins, or ? (for London leastways)?

Sent the R6 rear Ohlins to Ktech for a new preload hose and oil, came back sorted a week early and cheaper than their telephone estimate

and their smart stickers are now on my hoover

give them a call, they were really friendly and quoted about £65 for a shock service.

Living were you do i'd go to Harris,as they bring e'm in!! alternatively K-tech,their just a long way away if you want to talk to e'm in the flesh so to speak.

don't go anywhere near ABE. They are budget of budget. As pointed out already, Harris are the importers and fairly know their stuff. MC technics in Stowmarket are also excellent Ohlins specialists. If you do get a rebuild done, it may well be worth getting the top mounting bush changed for a metal one as London tends to chew the original rubber ones up in a few months.

Another vote for Harris - they rebuilt my GS rear Ohlins. Turned it around in 3 days, price was reasonable considering how comprehensively it was knackered and being local it was convenient for me too.

I'd echo Bailey's recommendation for MCTechnics - friend of mine recently had his VFR750's Ohlins serviced there on a ride-in-ride-out basis; booked the bike in, turned up on the day, and rode out a few hours later.

Had quite a few sets of Ohlins rebuilt at ABE without any problem at all.

In fact they've a rear ready for me to collect at the moment.

MC Technics' "while-u-wait" service is booked out until August!

It'll have to come off as I have established that the seal is gone...

They (the front has joined it) are at PDQ...which was (sort of) doable on public transport, sort of on the way home...though perhaps a courier would have been easier.

As is a BCR at the moment...???

Just an idea... is it not possible to get a seal kit and replacement oil and do it yourself??

I've rebuilt a Triumph rear, and a Penske. I was surprised how easy it was. All I needed then was to get the remote gas pressure sorted with Nitrogen at somewhere like PDQ (I use a high pressure hand pump with air initially)

All done

Including the mounting bush thingy that Bailey recommend, which was a Yamaha part with a bit of milling on something or other...looked like it needed to be done as there was a bit of chafing...all that London "off roading"...

Front took a little longer to do as they didn't hold all the parts in stock...

Jivebiker...sorry, I'm easily distracted from such tasks...though if I could find a spot down the pub to have a go...and had a spare waiting (just in case), and had a bike stand, and maybe a garage (just in case)...

I do have Zen like "gumption" though...

However, I shall be taking up my ex BSB racer mate's offer to get the set-up right... for London's potholes...
