Foreign Van Drivers

On the way to work this morning in the car:
Exit the motorway and there is a two lane feeder onto a dual carriageway. Foreign van on my left indicates left and moves onto feeder lane, I go around the outside of the van also onto the feeder lane. Next thing I know there is a loud bang and i am spinning towards the armco barrier. From the independant witness it appears that van man although indicating left and being in the left lane had changed his mind and turned right into the side of my car despite still indicating left!!!!
Result is that I have a written off car that is only a few months old and I have torn most of the major muscle down the centre of my back and my shoulders which the paramedics believe happened as a result of the force of the impact and my efforts to fight the spin and regain control of the car.
Fortunately the van man stopped - mainly due to my car blocking the carriageway!!! Turns out his insurance is in the UK despite being a French registered van so that has eased the claim process already. It also turned out that he had been on the road since the early hours of the morning and was late for his ferry to France. Bloody glad that I was not on the bike - who knows what the outcome would have been!!
Moral of the story is that I am not going to use any motor vehicle in the month of May as it is a year ago that I threw the SV up the road after hitting debris in the carriageway.

Thanks Steve. I am not going to Burton this year. My pass-outs for the year were already allocated and I have none in reserve!! I doubt Laura will let me anywhere near ANY vehicle at the moment anyway!!!

Streuth!! Glad you're relatively unscathed Keith - sounds a tad nasty nonetheless.

Hope you'll be up to 100% fitness in time for Scotland where we've been guaranteed fine weather all weekend...oh look there flies another one... :D

Courtesy car turned up this week so that I stay on the road while they decide what happens next with my dead car. I was expecting a Corsa or a Fiesta so you can imagine my surprise when I opened the front door to see a Saab 9-5 2.3 Turbo in Black!!!! Obviously I didnt turn it away!!!
