Just picked up a copy of this month's TWO mag - included a road test on the 1100S v the XB12R v Ducati SS1000DS v Trumpet 955 Daytona - some interesting news re a new Continental sports-touring tyre, the Conti Road Attack. The report sounded very promising indeed, especially for those who are currently using 020's etc.
I may well give them a try - they're a fair bit cheaper than the BT's plus (far more importantly) look pretty damn cool too.
I know it's sad, but that 020 tread pattern really says 'old bloke' to me, with it's weird wandering line down the centre. Can't knock it though really. Couldn't get out yesterday in the pouring sunshine, and went to work today in the pising rain. It was drying out on the way home but still the on/off dry/wet shade/dry variety - I'm going to have to go out at midnight when it's dry cos I have to get rid of my 'new tyre chiken strips' at all costs
I'm intrigued by all the good things said about the Pilot Roads and may give them a shot next. My S came with Pilot Sports (?) and they were pretty non-descript, seemed to grip but no feedback.
I also recall having some Michelins on my 16V K (my first radial tyres) and they were on target for 10k out of the rear... can't remember much more about them but I like the idea of that sort of mileage.
Can I handle the 010 withdrawal symptoms though?
Adam
Forgive me father for I have sinned... ex S owner moved onto pastures new with four cylinders and a chain... and back to a twin, albeit in a V.
Adam - very true in that 010's have become somewhat a benchmark. I did a few k miles on them on my S's and the Triumphs and found them as near to a 'fit and forget' tyre as was possible, so good were they. I too am tempted my Pilot Roads (no..still not got round to getting new hoops!) but would you be so kind to try them before me???
Conti make good white van man tyres. Speed rated up to 130 mph and come with a certificate to say they do actually own the outside lane of any motorway they happen to be on.

This is what I'd be hoping - it's about time the mags did a sports-tourer tyre test. Ok..I admit these shouldn't be taken as gospel but they're a base line to work from - but then again everyone needs track day tyres these days, PB/SB/FB said so.
