Just got back from my first visit there for my brother's stag do (albeit on four wheels  ) - we took 3 cars over and spent Friday pm there before going on the lash in Cologne.

Utterly bonkers - I didn't do any driving but what an amazing place.

Quite a few bikes, usual suspects plus lots of strange euro rat bikes from the 80s. One guy on an older RSVR really giving it some which was most impressive given the absurd number of corners, blind crests, changes in camber and general lack of signage...

Real variety of vehicles including the obligatory hot hatches, scoobies, evos etc. every variety of porsche and bmw and a few big and small mercs, the legendary bus full of grannies and an english LWB transit! It was relatively quiet (apparently) and we only saw one minor off involving 2 bikes - riders were both seen standing after what looked like a coming together of a 996 and an R1..

Hilarious being passed by huge mercs at full chat and then scruffy 80's Alfas with roll cages and silly exhausts.

Much talk of going again next year, in which case I'll definately take a bike (and spend some time on the playstation learning which way the track goes!).

Anyone else been there - I'm still grinning when I think about going round the Karusell

Had a few laps last year.

Stayed at Neil Lee's B and B near Spa, he took 3 of us on some great roads to the circuit and then guided us round. He's a 'ring instructor and knows it backwards, although we did go the same way as everyone else.

Absolutely brilliant, would love to do it again :P :P .

Neil is highly recommended.

Cheers

Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 is the one you want Ade (unless you've already got it, that is!). I think you'll have an uphill struggle learning the course, though - it's humungous! Do a search on youtube aswell- there's some cracking footage on there.

my idea of learning it is knowing which direction you turn after each bend - working out lines would be a bit of a task unless you put in serious hours and I reckon that the PS2 version may be a little different to reality... 13 miles and 73 bends..

a human circuit guide would be a better idea.. we stayed in Hotel Wilhelmshohe in Auderath which was super friendly, despite a boisterous stag party...

I has planned to go there a few weeks ago for the first time...

But a Friday's snow wasn't going to melt in time...

I am up for it at some point (possibly soonish)...though plan to go with a couple of mates in cars (as well as bike), one of whom is an old hand...

This is what you need...

I like the idea of being ferried round in a minibus, but for full effect - you have to have a great big sign in the window:

"HELP! WE HAVE BEEN KIDNAPPED............ CALL SANDRA BULLOCK!"

Al :D
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....
