I took my bike in for it's 12k service this week, to be greeted by

"that'll be the 12k and the annual service"

I don't think so says I.................

Not that unusual you might think, except they sold it to me brand new 6 months ago.

Aha! The old 'annual inspection/service' chestnut...charging you twice for effectively the same job. When my BCR was serviced at 6k - around Sept 06 (they said it had just had an annual service when I bought it in Jun 06) they tried to flog me an annual inspection on top of the 6k service. I said 'no...I just want a 6000 mile service' also pointing out as you did that I'd only had the bike 3 months. They seemed really disappointed to not be able to fleece me for even more money...as it was the 6k was nigh on 300 quid when they'd quoted me 180 or so.

I went through the invoice in 'great detail' (ie how can you justify charging extra for items which are adjusted as part of the service schedule??). P*ssed them off enough in the end that they dropped the price of the service by 80 quid. At which point I asked why wasn't the service 220 quid from the outset?

Gits... in fact 24k gits. And they over-filled the engine oil too...and didn't put the mineral oil in that I asked for.

On the subject of service I am going to change the oil myself and if the moan fu*k them.

For some reason I thought that the plugs would be changed at 12k so I asked what type they were and how much?

Motor parts price £2.32 each plus VAT

BMW £8.50 each plus VAT FOR THE SAME PLUG
