Goodridge Hose Kit

Post by snavetrauts »

Hi, I purchased the hose kit for the 1100s from motorworks.

The lengths are all correct....I know where to put the copper washers on the banjo's...BUT, there is a union with different threads on both sides with tapers on each end. (a bit like bleed nipple tapers)

Do the nuts on the plumbed pipework.... (say the bit that goes from the junction box on the right fork accross the mudguard to the other fork leg) go straight into the hose nuts. They do not seem to have washers of any description.... they look like they simply screw in until what might be a taper in the thread, tightens up???!!! I do not want to strip and replace and then find I am missing bits

There were no instructions with the kit.... It assumes that I have some knowledge...and I do.. I think. But it is along time since I did any work on breaks. I assume the tapers on the double threaded junction simply tighten up into the female.. as they say.

Any tips

Cheers

Stuart

No, these close using the tapered front bit. No washers needed there. Washers are only for the banjo bolts.

And unless they've changed it, you'll think it doesn't fit very well. Indeed mine didn't. (unless I got it very wrong!!)

The washers only go under banjo bolts.
Any taper fittings self seal.

Sorry but the kit looks like sh1t.

What you require is a double banjo at the master cylinder and two hoses going to the left and right caliper.

Forget splitter blocks and cross overs they are pants and a pain in the arse to bleed.

For information.... Everything fitted fine except one item.

The small hose on the left leg (as you ride) is approx. 2cm longer that the rubber original... this would be fine however it makes the copper pipe (which crosses over the mudguard) 2cm higher and it touches the telelever... not good. I have bent it out of the way at the moment... but have ordered a new pipe to make safe and neaten up.

Brilliant site by the way. www.brake-pipe.co.uk

Bob

What's the best braided system to go for ? My front brake bites really late about half way back to the bars so it's probably time for a change to braided hoses.

Boxadog suggests one line per caliper .....see earlier text.... But I had no problem bleeding the brakes with the kit from motorworks.

I agree with the one line per caliper I'm just not sure where I can get ahold of all the pieces. I agree with Bob that the cross tube on the original parts are a real hassle especially with bleeding the system so I would be going for a two hose system. What parts do I need and where can I get them ?

Scott, I got my kit via ebay direct from Goodridge, but you can order from these people
http://www.bsr-aerotek.com

incidentally, the kit i got was marked for the gb boxercup team, but the rear line was too short, so as the front were gs1150 length, I assumed thet the rear was from the same bike, but no, still too short for that bike too!

Thanks. That's been helpful. You would think that these kits would come with the right pieces first time.

Boxerdog, Where did you get your double banjo bolt and 2 lines for the front from??

I am not happy with the fixed copper section.... and would like to do what you suggest. I went to the first Goodridge Motorcyle distributor on Goodridges own list.... PDQ and they cannot do it without having the bike there.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Just fitted mine with the same problem...

Goodridge can only say...indeed. Alot of people complain about this; it BMW's fault.
