I was under the impression that the mirrors were mounted on the bars with blanks on the fairing. :!:

I know I might be wrong, but, don't the proper ones have white dials as well ?

Only 2004 and later.

If you are unsure, ask for the serial number. Those RM BCR's all have a unique serial number as it was limited production. If it doesn't have a serial, it's not a real BCR. If it does, it is.

I'd say it is a genuine BCR - but it has been crash/accident repaired. By his own statement the seller says the previous owner 'liberated' the rocker covers. Now no owner is going to devalue their own bike, so my guess is that it got chucked and, given the price of replacements, was patched up with standard rocker covers. Perhaps this was the same 'falling over' incident which required the indicator pod to be replaced, hence why it got matching orange indicators rather than clear.

Surprised to find an exhaust being sold separately, as that was the next thing to look at. The one that is fitted looks like standard fare, but if the BCR comes with both that might be acceptable - again I'm not a previous BCR owner to know the true gems to look for.

Lastly it does have yellow springs, so another of the BCR indicators is ticked.

As has been said before, they are only a tarted up S so there is no reason why this could not be effectively done by an owner to look like a BCR, but at reasonable expense that may well be better off upgrading to a genuine one.

Can you get a definitive list against chassis numbers from BMW as to which bikes are genuine BCRs? If you gave them a number could they confirm an identity of a machine?

I think those rockers covers are the magnesium ones from a standard R1100S. In any event you would not see the screw holes for the carbon covers because they would be behind the spark plug cover.

So - it is missing the clear indicator lenses (front and rear), carbon rocker cover covers and the BCR ally rocker covers.

The original Randy Mamola BCR - the single spark one - was a limited edition of 1000. 250 for Germany, 135 for the UK and the rest went - who knows where. When they decided to make them a normal production model ( because they realised that they could sell them) they had moved on to twin-spark.

Yeah - I'm erring on the "binned and repaired" scenario.

I'd be surprised if the belly pan had remained unscathed, so I'd be looking for cracks in the mounting holes on that. Too expensive to replace if you won't even run to white indicators.
