Set off at the normal time but the sun was shining and the snow sparkling on the mountain tops, did a loop to Alston-Hartside-Penrith followed by ablat up the M6 to Carlisle and into work. Added about 45 mins to my travel to work time and Im going to leave early and do the same this afternoon. xxxx em

nice ride, but i'm always wary of the cobbles in Alston, especially with it being icy. I passed through before christmas on route from Durham to keswick, sailed a boat and came back to Durham. Stopped off at the cafe on the hill just after alston. Great roads, but lots of accidents apparently
