Unfortunately had an accident on the way to work this morning.

Not sure if its going to be an economic write-off - its Y reg and plenty of front end body damage from sliding under bumper of car in front.

The excellent man with van, Derrick, who came to pick up the remains said buy it back off the insurer and take it to German and Jap, under the arches around Tooley St to do the repair.

Anyone had dealings with the the German & Jap guys?

Any advice much appreciated

Sorry to read about your off hope you are okay though
jap and german have been looking after my S for the last year.
No stealership prices and first class service. Bike runs better than it ever has since I bought it.
Little things like when they make a repair/part replacement they then check it works before you pick it up/leave :!:

Just remember that if the insurance write if off and it's repairable it'll be classed a either 'C' or 'D',and when you come to sell it you will have to disclose that, and you'd be amazed how conservative bikers can be!!

Sorry to hear that. As long as you are alright is the main thing eh.

Y reg - they're going to write it off for sure aren't they. Front end can be quite expensive to repair even 2nd hand as things like the delicate front subframe are very costly unless you're very lucky to pick one up 2nd hand off flea bay or summt. Beware you might have also spanned the steering locks off and that's another expensive part. Hopefully if it's just plastic and forks it'll be pretty straightforward and cheap though I reckon. If you want to sell a wreck though - let me know  I need to keep my old girl on the road somehow!

Good luck anyway, and for goodness sake don't sign over the V5 or release the bike physically to any third party till you've decided what you want to do as it might prove difficult to get back. Hope it's at the cheap end anyway.

As for fixing it up though I would have thought it would be quite easy to do yourself if the damage isn't too bad

Make sure the engine cases are checked - remember the Telelver arm is mounted in the engine cases and if it was a big front-end impact the shock will have been passed back into the cases. :(

Thanks very much for the thoughts and advice. I am fine as it was a pretty low speed spill.

I await the estimate and will take it from there. Jap and German sound like a find though.

Edward,

I know you had a front end spill (glad you are OK) but also check the lugs fro the rear sub frame as they snap very easily, mine did and I had a frontender.
