License Plate Holder

Was out for a run on Saturday and when I got back I noticed that the license plate was squint as one of the fixing units which holds the plate to the exhaust had come apart. The license plate holder is one of those trick stainless steel jobs that the previous owner bought from GG Technik. The problem is with the three rubber shock absorbers that separate the plate holder from the exhaust mufflers. The oval screws that fixes the plate holder to the shock absorber does'nt go right through the absorber to fix solidly to the exhaust but merely attaches to a threaded metal washer which is glued to the absorber. At the other end of the absorber there is another threaded metal washer and this screws onto the exhaust muffler. With rain and muck the metal washer has come away thereby allowing the license plate holder to become unsecure. It's a bit of a naff design but as Motorrad GG Technik are apparently no more I will not be able to buy replacement shock absorbers. The design should have run the allan screw right through the absorber to fix directly onto the exhaust itself. Does anyone know if there are rubber absorbers to prevent vibration on the OE plate holder and if so do they allow an allan screw to pass all the way through.

OE has such rubbers. About 10mm ? thick. Try Motorworks.

Thanks Oyster. I've got some of the rubber absorbers on order from Motorworks. I was taking all the old parts off last night and there are three screws potruding from the exhaust system where the old rubbers attached. As it's a Remus system that is fitted I'm not sure if they are infact stud inserts or part of the exhaust itself. I would have imagined that the Remus muffflers must have the same bolt hole fitments as the OE exhaust. Can anyone confirm ?

Remus, Laser, Sebring and probably all the others have that three bolt pattern. With Sebring & Laser you merely have the threaded holes.

Sorry, Oyster I'm not following you. Does the Remus have bolt holes so it must be studs that are inserted in mine or is it 3 fixed bolts that are potruding down. The OE absorbers arrived from Motorworks yesterday and the allan bolt goes right through the rubber absorber which is a much better design but won't be any good unless these studs are removable. I don't have a couple correct sized nuts handy to try and turn them off and I don't want to use mole grips as I'll ruin the threads.

All have the three bolt mount, to accept the stock plate holder. Dont know whether Remus is supplied with studs. You could ask Motorworks if no-one here can help.
