Molybdenum Grease

Not really Boxer specific (as I am working on the clutch of my Bonneville  ) ...

The rebuild of the clutch specifies Molybdenum Grease. I assume this is special. Down Halfrauds they have various types but they can't offer advice to which is a Molybdenum type :x

Any ideas which Castrol or whatever type of grease I should be using for this?

Ta, Lee.

I do beleive it's the dark black stuff ...as opposed to the standard LM high melting point beige coloured stuff.
Hope you appreciate my technical descriptions?
Bailey.

Ha ha ... brilliant ... I'll go ask

I have LM which I use for various applications.

Will make sure whatever I buy is of a "dark black" constitution.

Quite handy to know as Halford's will sell you anything! Ta.

Just popped out to my local motor factors ... got Comma CV Lith-Moly Grease ... and indeed it is very dark and almost black! Thanks for the double check. CHeers, Lee.

The reason for the colour is the MSO2 or moly particles in the grease. MSO2 is a very good dry film lubricant and is used in the arrestor hook area of the Jaguar aircraft. It withstands huge amounts of heat and is like a non stick coating if used "raw".

I assume it can cope with the enormous forces at work on a Bonnie output shaft then?

50:50 mix with engine oil for my purposes.

Thanks, Lee.
