HOLY SUGARBALLS again!
I have very little sympathy for the people who were showing off, I have to say, except... well... ouch!
Reminds me of a crash I saw years ago on the IOM. It was on a race day, but before the roads were closed, and I had stationed myself at Braddan Bridge. A biker took a left hand bend too fast, bottled out, hit the brakes and went straight on. He hit the wall, flipped over it, and plunged down a wooded bank. Must have been a goner, so I thought...
A few minutes later, I saw a knot of people by the wall, including a tall bloke in a brown leather jacket. I spotted him much later on Douglas prom and asked him how the rider was. "Oh that was me!" I kept many of my thoughts to myself!
I am also reminded of the time I dropped my old R65.
I was approaching a mini-roundabout one wet day in Telford (Shropshire). I was going at walking speed, gently touching the brake, when I hit a patch of diesel. In less than a quarter of a second, the bike was gone from under me. I was actually left standing there in the middle of the road. I looked around, and there was a car three inches from the seat of my pants - the two guys in the front seats were pissing themselves laughing!
Oh, by the way... there were a few barely visible scratches on the pannier and the rocker cover. Good old BMW!
