12v Switched Supply at front of bike???

Hi,
I want to connect my TomTom Rider to a 12v supply that is live only when the ignition is on. Ideally, I'm looking to break into a cable at the front of the bike and with the easiest access. The TTR does not draw a lot of power, so any source will do nicely.

Oopps! Bike is a R1100S.

Cheers!

Tom.

There is a suitable switched supply and earth on the back of the instrument panel that I (and others) used to power a Garmin Quest and similar. There is a thread on here somewhere detailing the colours. Failing that you can check out the terminals with a voltmeter to confirm the ones to use. I'll have a look in case I wrote it down at home.

Cheers

Ian

I think it is the green with black tracer on the extreme left when looking at the back of the instrument cluster. I have my Garmin wired into that and the black earth wire too. No problems for over 2 years now.

Good stuff! I'll have a look this weekend. Meanwhile, here's a pic of my mounting position. I drilled 2 small holes into the yoke and bolted the TTR mount there. What I like about this is the fact that the TTR lays flat and has less chance of developing the connection-loss fault that I suffered with previous units.
