Hi,
Do we have any Sky, or ariel people on the forum?
I don't have a Sky subscription anymore and was not using the box.
I though I may be able to get some channels so dug it out and set it up.
1. It was working with a few channels for about five minutes, it then lost the signal and has never had it back. Can Sky block indivudual boxes or signals?? I doubt they can but best to check.
I think the problem is from the ariel lead. Since last using it we have redecorated and it now needs to be in a different room.
When it was installed I had asked for extra cable which they Kindly left.
I snipped the old cable and connected it to the 'extra' cable I had so it could reach the new TV location. I connected it using standard male/female ariel jacks. I added the screw connector to attach to the back of the box and turned it on.
It took 2 min to find the signal then worked perfectly for about 5.
As said above, lost the signal.
I've made sure the connection the the back of the box is tight. I've tightened the ariel jack connections where the cable was cut. I've even changed those connections for an electrical block connector type.
Still no signal.
Any advice appriciated!
p.s Its a Sky+ box BTW, one of the older ones 20GB drive iirc.
Sky - No signal, connections advice please

I have the multi-room and have found that if the upstairs box isn't connected to the phone line after a while it stops working. Connect it back up again and it works after a short while.
Leads you to think if it ain't connected to the phone line, which I think it polls regularily, it shuts down...........maybe?

Sorted it now, was the connectons thanks
btw. I've never had mine connected to the phone line. You lose some of the interactive services like ordering pizzas and such like but it also stops the machine polling information back to sky.
I think the only other time you would need it connecting is if the box needs unlocking or some sort of decoding.
