It looks like someone has (badly) overlaid two photo's of the bike so that just the exhaust is incorrectly lined up. Pants

It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.

OK Nigel, I'll nibble:

How much, how loud, how soon? Cat in/out? Any outrageous power improvement claims? Should I have ever heard of the manufacturer? What sleeve material options are there?

I'm after a fruitier sounding can, but not one of anti-social loudness. Something that would pass a broad minded person's MOT ideally. Do these have removable baffles?

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Is that an adapted Z750/1000 can or something?

You will need to.

HPE is a division of Tubistyle in Italy. Tubistyle make OE exhausts for Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini to name but three.

HPE, in Maranello, are the high performance motorcycle division of Tubistyle. Started making racing exhausts a few years ago and started a move, in association with Ilmberger, into road exhausts at the beginning of last year. One of the very few companies who have the capability and the facilities to work with Inconel. Inconel is an alloy of nickel and chrome that has strength and heat properties that enable exhausts to be lighter than titanium without any of the associated loss of strength. Most exhausts in F1 and Moto-GP are made from Inconel. Currently HPE exhausts are undergoing testing on an 800cc red bike ridden by a small Italian and a young and also small Australian. You will also see their systems in WSB. Different stickers of course!

You can have the silencer with or without the cat. It does have removable baffles and there are two types of baffles (standard and race), both held in by screws and not rivets.

With the cat and the standard baffles it is fully road legal and EEC homologated. The certificate may be a while arriving - it took 6 months from passing the test for the cert. for the K1200 S/R exhaust to arrive.

The sound, IMO, is very similar to the Akrapovic system on the R1200S - but less flat. The sound clip is not on the site, but Ron heard it at Intermot and I think he agrees.

From that point the sound level is entirely up to you. One or two baffles of either type or a mixture or even open pipes. With screw in baffles it is easy to experiment. Without the cat., the noise level is similar but deeper.

Only Inox (stainless steel) for this silencer.

We are hoping to get one onto the MCN long term test bike. If you want one then I could have it made at the same time. The ones without the cat are made specifically for me.

No outrageous power claims, but there is usually a useful improvement. Check out the dyno charts on the website for the 1150GS, 1200GS and R1200S.

Without the cat the Boxertrix price is £350 inc VAT
