Small numberplates

Just changed my numberplate. Both bikes had the standard 9" by 7.5" plates on this morning, but I have just managed to get mine French registered. I went to get the plate made up and they said that although most bikes here have very small number plates, they will only do legal ones. The size they produced was 7.5" by 5". looks great!
It is true that most French bikes have plates smaller than letterboxes on them. I asked a bike copper why nothing was ever done about them, his answer was that there were far more important things to worry about than chasing 90% of bikes for the size of number plates, and they did not endanger lives in any way. Makes sense to me.

Here, here. Common sense prevails at least in france.

Trouble is of course that gatso's and the police's latest toy, the number plate recognition camera needs as much help as possible to gather as much revenue as they possibly can to fund the governments war in Iraq and therefore needs a nice big clear number plate to ensure a conviction every time

I trust all of you law abiding S riders are towing the company line

I've got the Bog Standard Legal Big Biffter number plate but am going to get a 7" x 5" at the show.

I had one on my old GS and it looks so much neater.
Passed the Mot with it no probs as it no longer forms part of the bike Mot apparently...

It's just large enough not to attract attention of of Doughnut eating chaps with nothing better to do...

As long as you dont get one that has all numerals on the same line...(In my humble opinion)

I've got a 7" x 5" as I've had on my last few bikes - they're "legal style" - i.e. no silly fonts, pictures, slogans etc, just a smaller version of the standard 9" x 7". Never had any trouble from the boys in blue even though I've ridden in front of police cars many times.

It's still plenty big/clear enough to be read by cameras - I fitted it because it looks better, not because I want to evade capture....

Earlier this year, whilst sat outside a pub in London, I spotted a French registered sportsbike (possibly GSX) with the number plate mounted over the front of the rear wheel. I think it was just about visible from directly behind (with a stoop)...

Hello from a new member. I'm married to 'Madman' and decided it's about time I joined up too. Had to let you all know that as of yesterday my 'S' is also sporting its new petit French plate! There's no doubt it looks far neater than the ironing-board size UK ones.
