K&N Filters ?

I noticed a supplier on Ebay making claims of performance improvement with these filters. Does this work at all / in conjunction with induct kits / or not at all ? My bike is standard at present including cat, though that might be replaced with a Y piece if the bolts can't be replaced when I get the clutch done.

Extra performance??? i doubt it but certainley makes the throttle more responsive, but your getting ahead of yourself if you've still running the bike with a cat,i'd be more concerned about a Y piece.

The cats got to come off for the clutch job. It's possible that the cat bolts will snap and rather than pay the mechanic to drill them out and re tap, it might be worth fitting the Y piece at this point. Is it worth the extra outlay ?
Also would I need to make any further mods because of the Y piece.

I have a K&N in my bike, and it is pretty dirty, but I don't have the cleaning stuff and oil from K&N at the moment.

Can I clean it with petroleum/gasoline?

Is there other stuff you can oil it with that works?
