I know a few of you take more than a passing interest in Guzzi's and noticed in last weeks MCN that they had pictures and a feature on the Italian's proposed 1200S. It has a passing resemblance to a Griso with a small bikini fairing and a reported output of 105 bhp.
A Guzzi spokesman was quoted as saying "We're looking particularly at BMW's R1200R. We see it as our first competitor and our 1200S is the bike that BMW should have built"
Price is expected to be £7300 when officially unveiled at the end of September.
Perhaps if offered with hard luggage it could be an interesting proposition?

Bob - the 1200S is a big bore Breva 1100, in fact it's nigh on identical apart from a few cosmetic items like the aforementioned small screen, plus it has wavy discs and no centrestand; still hard luggage-capable. Stick a fruity pipe on it and it'll also sound fabulous. No doubt the Griso will be getting the same motor at some point (they also do 850 versions of the bikes).
Imho the 1200S blows the R1200R into next week - a bike I'm trying to like but just can't stomach it. Will be going to the launch next saturday to have a look around one though to make up my mind.
I rode the Breva 1100 earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Comfy, sweet-handling and with a willing, revvy motor. A genuinely Nice Bike. The idea of the same with a fair bit more poke is very appealing.
