Hi Guys this is my first post on the trix website. Just thought I would feedback on the new Metzeler M3. Just done a flying lap of Northern Ireland via the cat and fiddle. Very impressed with these tyres the grip is very confidence inspiring. The front saved me twice on the fiddle, as I was tring to catch my pal on the R1. I have done 1500miles and cannot see any wear. The M1's would be half done by now. Seem ok in the wet but as the weather has been so good cannot comment much further. I also got a free tank bag with the purchase.
I put the standard cans back on (have Remus Y) for the trip changed the BBpower chip to stage 2 and got many explosions. not good in the North.
Returned the chip to stage 3 and put back on the Lasers. All is now well in the world.
How good is this induct most of you have one?
If anyone is upgrading to the 1200 may be they want to sell their induct real cheap (i'm from Yorkshire)

The Induct gives the engine a major boost the problem being after a few weeks it feels like normal!! nothing clever about it,it's just twice as big as the standard one so shifts a lot more air,if your intending to keep the bike go to the trouble of getting a SJ filter shipped in from the states as opposed to a K+N.

Thanks for that. I have read mixed reports about the loss of torque lower down. Is this the case?
Does the increase in air mean another stage on the chip say stage 4. I am running a K&N.
I did notice the extra revs needed to get off the mark when the lasers were fitted. stage 3 was better than 2 in respect to this. I do also recall the bbpower instructions saying drill the airbox and the induct/ aircharger is only any use at stage 4 with the upgraded camshafts.
I have had a look at the SJ power filter and their induct is alot cheeper that lennies as its not carbon fibre is it as good at increasing the air into that tiny box.
I recall hitting the limiter on the first outing with the lasers though. Yes I was going 20mph fastered than I thought I was.
Just on my original post. I forgot to mention that the M3 tyres don't make that crazy noise at 40 mph that the front M1 did. I took it back to the dealer thinking wheel bearing, it was that bad. If you like the M1 you will just love the M3. its the future like garlic bread

Loss of torque?? thats a new on me!!,open pipe just means you can hear it more hence you think your reving it more!!as for your BBP chip your on your own,Malc had a brush with one(he burned both pistons) and cured me of any such ideas which made me wait all these years for a PC.
Don't get carried away with the difference in ducts being plastic and C/F Lennies has always got the nod in that respect,it's bigger, the SJ filter which is a separate item,is just a very clever example of lateral thinking,i've run an Induct, open pipe,K+N then a SJ over a space of 6 years with a stock chip, and it's been fine, but have been after that final piece in the jigsaw puzzle and that turned out to be the PC.

Hi PB boxer thanks for the invite for a ride out. One of my favoured routes is the spin to Kettlewell for breaky and then to Hawes,Settle and back to Skipton.
Will drop you a line.
As for the chip what you running and what stage on the chip.
I have to say I could not get over the difference in the bike from fitting that chip.
Winger thanks for the info re the horror stories

but I am going to take my chance. Its just too much fun from 5700 rpm

Hi Nick
If you go into the Boxertrix(Yahoo) which is the old site you'll find war and piece about the BBP chip,Malc doesn't come here very often as he now runs a Blade, but maybe Richard can get him to come on and give his two peneeth.
If you look at the BBP website he's always poo poo'd the inducts,Malc didn't just fit his(chip) and it went bang,he ran it for years!! and put a lot of mileage on,and then it went bang!!,as to if it's the chip thats boardline or the extra air that the Induct shifts that tips it over the edge your guess is as good as mine.
When Malc rebuilt the motor,it was put on a dyno and was way weak, got round it with a K1200 regulater, which you will also find loads about.
